September 2022 is the 42nd Annual Celebration of "September Is Black Reading Month." The Committee for this celebration was founded in Detroit, MI in 1980 by Nkiruka Yakini, Osei Nxele, Malik Yakini, Helen Ray and David Rambeau to encourage members of the Black Community to read books, magazines and journals written by Black Authors. During the month of September and continuing throughout the year: Support Black Authors, Support small-local bookstores, Read and discuss books with friends and family, Buy a book for a friend.
